too much?

one more day until i take a little/long bus trip to edmonton, i've been gathering some samples so i can take some proper photos while there. here is my vest done in leather and fur, too much? don't worry there will be a waxed cotton version, a more affordable version available for the summer. this is for fun. how will i ever pack all my collection and my own clothing?





edmonton is already rolling out the pull-out sofas, planning pre-easter parties, taking days of work and buying tickets for concerts for me, so lucky, can't wait! i'll be doing my own personal best of edmonton tour.

i hand stained the belt black and polished it, the back gets VERY skinny with a little gold buckle.

shopping

my favorite shopping includes dim sum with elizabeth and buying new fabric and leather.
i bought some beautiful soft 'bubble' lambskin and will hopefully be photographing these professionally soon for my online shop.





AND i bought a whole role of some gorgeous nude, paper thin jersey, i made up a pair of drop crotch pants (shown above) for my upcoming long bus ride. i will be saving the jersey for some very exciting new designs for my collaborative line RATS which will be sold online only in the hot summer days to come......

early morning studio

i couldn't sleep so i got up crazy early, like still dark to get some work done. exposing a screen while drinking black tea from my new porcelain "this is not a paper cup" cup.



oh and here are some shots of me trying on blazers at zara? i went to return some books on sunday and take a peek at the saint patrick's parade but it was so boring i popped into zara to try on their millions of blazers they have right now. i still can't bring myself to buy anything there though, i'd feel like such a clone.

i do my best working at night. usually with a glass of red wine and a movie playing in my wireless headphones. why did it take me so long to watch alfred hitchcock's rear window? i love james stewart.

i finally hung my "the pales vs the chiefs" and "the chiefs vs the pales" by the beautiful printmaker laurel westlund. thank you for this gift buddy, i love your work!

i guess seven isn't THAT high a number but pretty high for a 26 year old that's like one cat every 3.7 years..anyway incase you were interested here they are;

1. OSCAR - (all grey) never neutered and i assume he ran away to raise a family of his own in the woods?
2. LUCY- (fluffy kitten) stepped on and killed by my brother (horrible tragic accident) i forgive you christopher.
3. MILO - (orange and FAT tabby like garfield) actually lived to be very old and died of kitty-betes on my mum's acreage last year.
4. STELLA - (beautiful petite black) lost in bc when i lived there and probably eaten by a vicious raccoon. i screamed "stella!" in the mountains for days....
5. BELLA - (grey tabby) stella's daughter died mysteriously (i think it was electrocution?) and was found in the yard by my grandfather beside a power pole. the only cat i buried myself.
6. ESTEE- (grey tabby) twin sister of bella and daughter of stella i let her run free in the country and in the city, i thought freedom was best for this one but she was hit by a car at 8 years old and i had to put her down. she was my favorite and the only cat to die in my arms.
7. PIPI- (orange tabby) purchased for 20 bucks from some kids and the only cat i've ever paid for. she was totally fucking wild when i brought her home. i love her.




could be a good kids story book...like what not to do. well now you know i am a crazy cat lady. my mum made this dish in her pottery phase.

so i have been thinking about designing this belt for a while with horse hair, it's simple and weird and i finally found a supplier i like and the hair is on the way. Then i saw ann demeulemeester fall 2011 collection has some horse hair belts and necklaces of of her own, oh ann stop copying me!

maybe i should just start a vintage fur blog?! this is my blond fur liberated from the citadel theatre costume sale last year, it's taken a lot of patching up but i think it'll make it through this last bit of snow melt and then be recycled into some trimming.



100% cotton white hoody i dyed fluorescent chartreuse, i know i'm OBSESSED! worn with my new black cheap monday jeans.



i've been wearing the black diamond beeswaxed cotton purse with the raw leather strap. bad, i know, i need to list this purse on etsy already but i'm waiting for some better fabric, for now it's for sale in stores only in recycled leather. before the snow thaws i promise to have them all up and hopefully my build-a-bag website with TWO new designs i've been working on for my crystalline series.

this video is unbelievable. showing the tsunami sweeping into japan live. people trapped in floating houses and everyone up on high ground crying and powerless to do anything. i think we have all been thinking about this all weekend.

pancake heaven

last night after the puces pop sale, so exhausted, i crawled out of bed from under a pizza box to go to our friend rollie's super secret show at that super secret place

this is an old old old design, i'm talking the original myrtle and pearls sold at nokomis and royal bisons like 4 years ago! but a great piece for using up scraps of recycled leather and also that gold chain i convinced nokomis i needed like 6000 metres of. he he hehe. AND i get to use my favorite accessories making process ever SPRAY PAINT! cher said on twitter that capital letters means yelling. SO I GUESS I AM YELLING. too much working better sleep now. also i'm keeping the tops gold because it looks cool.

march madness

i've been working on a vest pattern lately...it's something i can see myself wearing all summer over a tiny silk dress and well into fall over a sweatshirt and some jeans, i am soo excited i took pictures in this sample and it doesn't even fit me, it's a small. i have some in recycled leather i am working on and some with cotton and a bit of fur, this one is cotton with a beeswax finish. and they have hook and eye closures so sweet.


it's got shoulder pads galore! this is a tough vest for tough girls
